Aangan — Privacy Policy

Effective date: 18 September 2026
Publisher: Kunba
Contact: Ateeshay.jain@gmail.com

The short version. Aangan is local-first. Household data is stored on your iPhone and, when iCloud is available, privately synced through your own Apple account by default. You can pause sync in Settings. Kunba operates no household-data backend and does not collect, sell or use your data for ads, analytics or tracking.

1. Who we are

Aangan is published by Kunba. Version 1.4 has no Kunba account, server login, paid verification service, cloud-AI service, advertising or analytics.

2. Information you can store

Aangan lets you store homes and members; staff names, phone numbers, attendance, salary and advances; bills, expenses, payment methods and ledgers; UPI or bank details you choose to record; assets, warranties, vehicle papers and documents; meals, contacts, to-dos, Lists, calendar events, laundry and handoffs; and photos, scans or PDFs.

Government IDs and financial details are optional. Aangan does not require an Aadhaar or PAN number to use the app.

3. Where information lives

On your iPhone. Records are stored in Aangan's private app databases and files. Local Lists stay only on this iPhone in version 1.4. iOS data protection encrypts app storage at rest; attachment writes use complete file protection.

In your iCloud. When iCloud is available, household sync runs by default through Apple CloudKit. Pause or resume it under More → Settings → iCloud sync. Data is held under your Apple account and processed by Apple under its iCloud terms, not sent to a Kunba backend.

If you deliberately share a home, Apple makes that home's data available only to participants you invite. Every participant is a co-owner of that home: they can read and change everything in it, including documents, photos and scans, and a copy is stored on their iPhone. There are no read-only roles in this version. Do not invite someone you do not trust.

Removing a participant stops new changes reaching them. The copy already on their iPhone stays there until they leave or delete the home in Aangan.

4. What Kunba does not collect

Apple may process iCloud, App Store and opt-in Apple diagnostics data under Apple's own policies. Kunba does not receive private household content through those services.

5. Device permissions

PermissionPurpose
CameraScan receipts, bills and documents.
Face ID / device authenticationOpen documents or sensitive reports that you lock.
CalendarsOptionally export services, bills and expiries to a dedicated Aangan calendar.
NotificationsDeliver local reminders you configure.

Photo imports use Apple's system PhotosPicker, which gives Aangan only the items you select without broad Photo Library authorization. Release does not request microphone, speech-recognition, contacts or location permission.

6. Security

7. Hand-offs you initiate

Sharing a slip or export, opening a UPI app, WhatsApp, Mail, the dialler or a brand website, and sending a warranty-claim message happen only after you tap. The receiving service then applies its own privacy policy.

8. Access, export and deletion

Kunba cannot access or delete content in your private iCloud account for you.

9. Children

Aangan is intended for adults managing a household. It is not directed at children, and Kunba does not knowingly collect children's data.

10. Changes and contact

Material policy changes will update the effective date and, where appropriate, be disclosed in the app or release notes.
